Insurance agencies
The agency that quotes first usually writes the policy.
A prospect who fills out a form is shopping three agencies at once. If your quote lands tomorrow morning, you are competing against one that landed in nine minutes. This page shows what the delay costs you.
This is your Tuesday.
- A quote request comes in at 4:50pm. Your producer sees it at 9:15 the next morning. The prospect bound with someone else at 5:40.
- The same client details get typed into the agency management system, the carrier portal, and the application PDF.
- A renewal is 31 days out and nobody has looked at it, because nothing puts it in front of anyone.
- A carrier emails a declination. It sits in a shared inbox for two days before anyone reads it.
- Someone is rekeying a dec page into a spreadsheet to build the quarterly book-of-business report.
- A Spanish-speaking prospect calls and the one bilingual producer is on another line.
The same week, run differently.

42
slow quotes a month
A six-producer independent agency, from its own numbers: Quote requests a week: 32. Share not quoted the same day: 30%. Average first-year commission: $190. Years a policy typically stays: 4. Quotes that bind: 30%. The 22% we assume is recoverable is our own figure — the only study of insurance response times is from 2014. Held for the years you keep the policy, because a bound policy renews.
What slow quotes cost you
Four numbers from your agency management system. The math is shown in full underneath.
Count anything that goes out after the prospect has gone to bed.
Set it to 1 if you only want to count the first year. Personal lines commonly retain longer than that.
Everything updates as you type. Nothing is sent until you ask for the breakdown.
Commission lost to response time
$25,021 USD
over the life of those policies
How that number is built
- 42 quote requests a month go unanswered that day
- 9.1 of them are still winnable with a same-hour response
- 2.7 of those bind at your current rate
- $6,255 of first-year commission — the figure above is that, held for the years you keep them
The 22% recovery rate is our own assumption, not a measured figure — the only relevant study of insurance response times is from 2014. Premiums and commission rates come from NAIC data; the rest is arithmetic on your inputs. Set retention to 1 year to see first-year commission alone.
Where these numbers come from
The volumes and values below are published research. The recovery percentages are our own assumptions — nobody publishes a measured rate for how much of a lost lead a fast response wins back, and pretending otherwise would be the kind of thing this page exists to argue against.
- ResearchCombined average auto premium of $1,438; homeowners $1,396–$1,818 by region. NAIC premium data, 2023–2024
- ResearchNew-business commission of 10–15% of premium on personal lines. Industry standard rate ranges, 2024
- DatedOnline insurance buyers waited an average of 2.3 days for a call, and roughly 40% never got one. Velocify insurance secret-shopper study, 2014
- Our assumptionThe 22% we assume is recoverable is our own model. This is the least-evidenced number on the site, and it is kept deliberately low. Palanca Sur assumption

The ask
What five days gets you
$950 USD
In five days you will have quote intake that acknowledges in two minutes and drafts the application before a producer touches it.
Start with a diagnostic- Intake
- Intake form that writes directly into your agency management system.
- Acknowledgement
- Same-minute acknowledgement to the prospect with a realistic timeline.
- Application
- Draft application pre-filled from intake, waiting for producer review.
- Renewals
- Renewal sequence at 60, 30 and 14 days out.
- Language
- English and Spanish, chosen from how the prospect contacted you.
The questions I actually get asked
Does this replace my producers?
No. It removes the typing and the waiting so producers spend their day on the conversations that need a person. Nothing binds a policy without one of them approving it.
We already use EZLynx / HawkSoft / Applied Epic.
That is where this writes to. I build into the system of record you already pay for; adding a sixth system is how agencies end up with three versions of the same client.
What about carrier compliance and E&O?
Nothing is sent to a carrier or bound automatically. The automation prepares and a licensed producer approves — the approval step is deliberate and auditable.
Our data is sensitive.
It stays in your systems. I build on top of the tools you already trust with it rather than copying your book into somewhere new.
Not quite your business?
15 minutes, no deck, no pitch.
Bring the process this page describes. You’ll leave knowing whether it’s worth automating and roughly what it’s worth.
